how i got my ponies

ive been riding since i was 10, i got my first pony on loan, romeo, when i was 12, he was a mountain and moorland type, over 10yrs+ (i never actually knew his real age) and was about 13hh. he was such a little sweetheart and had a amazing jump, i was obsessed with him. when i was 15 his owner sold him and told me the day before that he had been sold and it would be the last day id ever see him, i was absolutely heart broken. what a BITCH!

i stopped riding for a year and slowly took interest in it again. when i was 16 i started to have a horse on trail named harry, a selle francais, 16hh, 15yo, ex hunter imported from france. i fell in love with him as he was such a darling on the ground but riding wise wasnt as great. he would buck cantering and jumping. i thought he was just stubborn but turned out he had a very bad back. so it was byebye harry.

i saw an add in a local newspaper about a 1yo filly needing a good home. i didn’t take any interest in it at first but 2 weeks later i rang up and asked about this filly. luckily she was still available and had had previous interest from other buying but no one wanted her. i went to go look at her and without even thinking about it decided to buy her. when she arrived home, she was so curious and playful, but when i would try and do anything with her she would act out aggressively, she was doing this because she was extremely scared. this is when i started having natural horsemanship lessons which changed this scared little pony completely. she is now a dream pony who really trusts me. this pony would indeed be tess! i will never ever sell my beautiful girl!

seeing as i couldn’t ride tess, i wanted something that i could ride. so i started a search for a new pony. a pony near by was for sale, riku, so i went to have a look, he was slow and lazy and extremely green. this was the type of pony i really didn’t want to buy but i bought him anyway, well my dad did lol.. with a lot of training he is now a forward going, light off the leg, more experience pony. he is a absolute darling and im so happy i did decide to buy him!
